Story and photos provided by Guy Laird of Saskatchewan.
The Moose Jaw Charger

The photos I've attached were taken in the fall of 1984, in Regina Saskatchewan, just a few blocks from my sister's place. I had been over for a visit one evening, and on my way home, I passed by the residence of a nice fella named Bowman, who just happened to have the garage door open, revealing a flash of pink paint on "SOMETHING"...needless to say, it caught My eye. Upon further investigation, I was dumbstruck to discover the now famous pink Charger, which had been sitting in his garage since the fall of '79 - I'd probably driven by a hundred times and never known. Coincidentally, Mr. Bowman was just preparing the car for sale, so my happenstance discovery gave me the edge. Unfortunately, his asking price was $10,000 (Cdn) which at the time was a bit steep - I offered him $7500, and he hesitantly countered with a drop to $9000, and really, that's about where negotiations ended. A buddy of mine tried to muster the money, but by the time he'd lined up his finances, Mr. Bowman had sold the car to a party in Moose Jaw,(where it was originally sold, as mentioned in your article) who gave the car some cosmetic attention and showed it periodically. The photo of the car with the hood up was taken at the "Southey Mopar Muscle Meet" (currently in Our 23rd year!) in the summer of 1988, just after it's first re-paint. As you can see in the photos, a few things have been changed over the years - when I first saw the car back in '84, there was no hood callout, and the car featured chrome rear-view mirrors. It was still wearing the shaggy cragars that were added by the original owner, although the original Rallye wheels were stacked neatly in the garage. Also of interest is the interior - it was certainly the original when I saw the car, and as I recall, it was all-black, not grey as indicated in the article. It was still wearing it's original paint at this time, and although the white tape stripe was showing considerable wear, I might have tried to buff out the paint, rather than re-do it - it was pretty damn good overall. The car showed @52,000 miles at the time. If only a guy could go back...!
